(La Joya, Tx)-Margarito Requenez enters his 9th season as the La Joya Palmview Lobos head football coach with five playoff appearances.
Last year, was tough to swallow for the La Joya Palmview Lobos after finishing with a 7-3 overall record. That record still kept the Lobos out of the playoffs after finishing tied for third place at 4-3 with McAllen and McAllen Nikki Rowe. A tie-breaking point-system kept the Lobos out. “Missing the playoffs was tough to swallow in 2022. We had the better record overall. “ says Requenez.
The Lobos returns 29 lettermen with just five starters on both sides of the ball. Returning on offense is RB Jose Guerra who rushed for 781 yards on the ground and caught passes for another 214 yards. He total nine scores. Also coming back will be RB Angel Chapa, WR Jorge Sanchez (5’11 185lbs), and OL Rudy Lara (6’ 245lbs). The big question for the Lobos will be at quarterback. Requenez talks highly about QB prospect, sophomore Joseph Martinez (5’10 170lbs).
Defensively, LB Zeke De Hoyos will lead his team along with DB Victor Garcia, DL Abram Garcia (6’3 265lbs), and DE Efrain Rodriguez (6’1 225lbs).
