(Brownsville, Texas)- Brownsville Rivera head football coach, Alberto Leal enters his fifth season looking for more wins in 2023 after finishing with another 2-8 season. Last year, the Raiders defeated La Joya 7-0 in their season opener and after three straight losses, the Raiders rebounded with another win over Edinburg Economedes 32-7. Five straight losses in district play hampered their playoff hopes. “We will be better in 2023. I’m excited about this season. We will be competitive,” says Leal. The Raiders will look to Jesus Hinojosa at quarterback followed by TE Jorge Ibarra, OG Arnulfo Gonzalez, C Preston Sires Ruiz, and DB Matthew Guerrero.
The Raiders kicks off their season on the road at La Joya on Friday, August 25th followed by Edinburg North on September 1st at Richard Flores Stadium.
