(Raymondville, Texas)- The Raymondville Bearkats missed their opportunity to win the outright District 16-4A DII title in 2022 after defeating the Port Isabel Tarons in an exciting 20-17 win. A loss to Bishop and a PI win over Bishop, created a three-way for a share of the district title for all three teams. “We had our chances,” said head coach Frank Cantu. In the playoffs, the Bearkats lost in the Class 4A Division II Bi-District finals to Orange Grove 35-21 to end their state title chase.
Twenty-four lettermen will be back along with six starters on offense and seven back on defense. Players to watch this season are TE Joshua Valdez, DT Jordan Ramirez, DE Michael Sayas, OG Jared Flores, WR Roman Hinojosa, WR Angel Ochoa, and WR Chris Gonzalez.
