(Laredo, Texas)-The 31-6A PSJA Bears (27-8) are headed back to Laredo, Texas to take on 28-6A San Antonio Johnson (31-4-2) in the Class 6A Region IV Baseball Semifinals Best-of-Three baseball series at Veterans Field with Game One set for Thursday at 6:00 p.m. Games Two and Three will be played on Friday starting at 2:00 p.m. and if necessary, 30 minutes later after Game Two. The winner will meet 26-6A Austin Westlake or 30-6A Eagle Pass in the regional finals.

It’s been an interesting season for PSJAhead baseball coach, Marco Guajardo, who was placed on administrative leave midway through the baseball season. For whatever reasons, he would later be reinstated after protests by Bear fans on social media platform, HSSM/Facebook drew outcries.

Since then, the 31-6A runner-up, Bears have been on a tear posting an impressive 10-1 record in their last eleven games, including 7-1 in the playoffs with wins over San Benito, Laredo Alexander, and Laredo United. Players to watch will be Andy Gamboa, Jacob Delgadillo, and Julius Ramirez. If the Bears expect to advance to the fifth round, they must stop senior pitchers, UTSA commit Barrett Johnson, Texas State commit Ryne Farber, TCU commit Mason Bixby. In the playoffs, the Jaguars have posted wins over New Braunfels, Austin Bowie, and Austin Lake Travis. (HSSMIMages/PSJA)
