(Pharr, Texas)-With the season winding down and at this point, every game counts, at PSJA Stadium on Thursday Night, head football coach Lupe Rodriguez watched his Bears come alive as they defeated Edinburg Economedes 55-13 in both teams District 31-6A opener. Bears junior quarterback Jaime Lopez torched the Jags defense for 457 yards passing on five touchdowns. He completed 33-of-53 passes. Lopez was able to connect on six different Bear receivers for scores with Christian Gamboa, Andrew Castillo, Caleb Salas, and Ryan Vallejo all hauling down touchdown scores. Defensively, the Bears held the Jags to 194 total yards.

The Bears (2-4, 1-0) will continue its march towards a possible district title as they will travel to play winless La Joya (0-5, 0-0) next Thursday night at PACK Stadium while the Jaguars (1-5, 0-1) will meet Edinburg High School (2-3, 0-0) at home. All games are now conference play.
