(Falfurrias, Texas)-Just call these twins, special. Lyford Bulldogs HS (4-1) football twins, Oscar and Osmar Martinez will lead their team on Friday night against a much improved Falfurrias Jersey (4-1) team their District 16-3A Division I conference opener.
Osmar, the senior quarterback is outstanding in the classroom and football field. He was also voted homecoming king too. On the field, he is a true Bulldog, with 1,083 yards rushing on 95 carries with ten scores, including 403 yards passing. His twin brother, on the other hand, WR Oscar is just as good with 381 yards rushing and 197 yards receiving.
Bulldog head coach, Jerry Jauregui likes what he sees so far with his team and he knows that this season is special. The Bulldogs have rushed for 2,275 yards, scoring 19 touchdowns and another 744 yards passing. As for the Jerseys, they will be tested on offense by a stout Lyford defense. The Jerseys have rushed for 1,383 yards this season with 5’11 running back Rene Martinez getting 949 rushing yards this season alone.
Earlier this season, the Lyford HS Bulldogs coach was ready for the 2022 season, even if it meant playing with just 25 players on his roster on opening day. “I’m just excited to get these Friday nights moving forward and I just love Texas High School football,” says Jaurequi.
