(Mission, Texas)-Whatever happened in the second half, did not duplicate what took place in the first half as the Laredo Alexander (2-3) Bulldogs pulled away with a 48-21 win over Sharyland Pioneer (3-2) in non-district action on Friday night at Richard Thompson Stadium.
Pioneer junior quarterback Julian Valdez spotted WR Joseph Graham Jr for a 62-yard strike, down 14-0, and Valdez would go to the senior wide receiver again, this time for a 24-yard touchdown pass to trail the Bulldogs 14-7 with 10:09 left in the half.
Down 21-7 with less than 2:00 minutes left in the half, Valdez mounted another drive, spotting WR Antonio Carrizales twice on the field. Carrizales would haul in a pass for the score from Valdez to trail 21-14 at the half.
The Diamondbacks will now take a week off and will return to action on October 7th and will play host to Mission Veterans (3-2) in District 16-5A Division II.
