(Brownsville, Texas)-At Brownsville Veterans Memorial High School Stadium, the Chargers (2-1) defeated the Port Isabel Tarpons (3-1) 41-14 on Friday night. “We gave up our opportunities to the Chargers with miscues,” said Tarpon head coach, Tony Villarreal. The Tarpons had five turnovers for the night.

Brownsville Veterans Memorial HS RB Bryan Chavez took advantage of the PI turnovers and found the end zone five times to lead his team, including his final five-yard TD run in the fourth quarter. “We had a bad snap for a punt and a fumble that turned into 14 points for the Chargers,” added Villarreal. The Tarpons were down 27-0 at this point. The Tarpons finished the night with 253 yards rushing on 48 carries and passed for 41 yards. The Chargers were held to 270 total yards.
