(Pharr, Texas)-At PSJA Stadium in Pharr, the Palmview High School Lobos defeated the PSJA Southwest Javelinas 30-7 in non-district action to start off their season at 1-0 on Thursday night. The Lobos will now meet the Roma Gladiators next Thursday night at PACK Stadium with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. while the Javelinas will play La Feria at PSJA Stadium on Friday night.

It was senior quarterback Christian Reyna sparking the Lobos with a quarterback sneak for a score and he would throw another score to WR Jesus Hinostrosa to take a lead 23-0 late in the third quarter. RB junior Eddie Pena scored a touchdown to give La Joya Palmview a 14-0 lead in the first half. The defense also sacked PSJA Southwest QB for a safety in the first half.

“It’s getting back into the grove. Our defense did a great job. Offensively, Reyna had a good game and we had good game plan for him. As long as he continues to follow our game plan, he will perform,” says Palmview head coach Margarito Requenez.

The Lobos will play host to the Roma Gladiators and Requenez says that, “this is always a fun game to play because you never know who will win it at the end.” The last time both teams met was back in 2017 when the Lobos won 16-10 in overtime.
