(Santa Rosa, Texas)-The Santa Rosa Warriors will be one of the first teams in Texas to kickoff the 2022 football season tonight with Midnight Football Madness. The Warriors will make its debut tonight at Warriors Stadium beginning at 12:01 a.m. till 2:00 a.m. “We are excited to kickoff the season,” says second-year head football coach, Joe Marichalar. “We are ready for 2022.”

The Warriors will be dressed in their football practice attire, are coming off a rebuilding season after posting a 2-8 overall record and 1-5 in district play. Marichalar knows that his Warriors will be challenged after the University Interscholastic Leagues made shifts, aligning the Warriors with Banquete, George West, Hebbronville, Monte Alto, Odem, and Taft, together in District 16-3A Division II. “It’s going to be a tough district,” says Marichalar. “Join us for practice under the lights.” Fans, band, cheerleaders, and of course, the football team will be kicking off their football season tonight.

All 1A-4A schools, including 5A and 6A schools without spring training will be able to kickoff its season with practices on Monday and will be allowed two scrimmages. The first allowed scrimmage will be held August 11th. Schools like Sharyland Pioneer will begin football practice at 7:00 a.m. on Monday at Pioneer Stadium. “We are looking forward to this season,” says second-year head coach, Eddie Galindo.

Those 5A and 6A teams that did practice in the Spring will be allowed one scrimmage and will begin practices the following Monday on August 8th. First scrimmage is set for August 18th.

The first day of practice on August 1st will feature players wearing just helmets with no contact. The first day of football contact will kickoff on Saturday, August 6th.
