(Austin, Texas)-The University Interscholastic League will vote on Tuesday on whether to allow all freshmen athletes to participate in varsity sports or ban these players. If the UIL votes in favor, then all freshmen will have to wait till their sophomore season to possibly play varsity in 2023-24.
The possible UIL ban would affect male and female cross-country, track and field, tennis, and golf, where plenty of freshmen do currently participate. Other sports such as football, baseball, softball, and basketball have limited of players from the freshmen level participating. (HSSMImages)
