(Lyford, Texas)-On Friday night, the Lyford Bulldogs exploded for 16 runs in the first inning against winless, Donna IDEA HS (0-7) and Ryan Rivera pitched only three innings, allowing no hits and two walks as the 32-3A champions, Bulldogs won 24-0 in the University Interscholatsic League 3A Baseball Bi-District Championships. The Bulldogs (16-9) will now play Santa Gertrudis Academy (21-7) in the area playoffs on Saturday at Kingsville, Texas. The Titans entered the playoffs by automatically qualifiying for a playoff spot from its four-team 31-3A District. The Bulldogs sent 35 players to the plate and they also stole 24 bases against the Titans defense. Head coach Jose Rocha from Lyford said that the Titans opted to forfeit its second game in the Best-of-Three series on Saturday. With the forfeit, the Bulldogs won the series 2-0. (HSSMIMages)
