(Robstown, Texas)-In the University Interscholastic League Class 5A Bi-District Boys Basketball Championships, the 30-5A La Joya Palmview Lobos (17-18) watched their season come to an end as they lost to the 29-5A Victoria West (22-10) Warriors 55-32 on Tuesday night. West’s Darrian Lacy and Jaydn Smith both scored in double figures to lead the Warriors. They will play McAllen High School this weekend in the area playoffs.
Both 6-foot-3 junior posts dominated the boards with Smith scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. The Lobos got off to a slow start as they had five turnovers and went 1-of-8 shooting from the floor in the opening period. Lacy was on fire. He nailed three consecutive three-pointers in the second period to put the West up 27-11. He finished the night with 18 points and six rebounds. As for the Lobos, the turnovers just kept coming in the second period as they committed seven and went 2 of 10 from the field. Overall, the Lobos just could not find their groove as they shot 35% from the floor and committed 16 turnovers for the night.
