(McAllen, Texas)-With 30-mph gusty winds blowing throughout McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday, the Edinburg Economedes Jaguars did all they could to fend off Sharyland in a shootout, with the Rattlers winning 6-5 to claim the Pat Leal Boys Soccer Championship title. After having to reset the ball eight times due to movement by the South Texas winds, Sharyland’s Mauricio Gongora nailed his shot for the win.

The Jaguars looked as if though they would win the outright tournament with 1:12 left to play in regulation, but Sharyland’s Jose Sanchez made a spectacular 42-yard shot to tied the game.

In the semifinals, Economedes defeated McAllen 1-0 while the Sharyland Rattlers knocked off San Benito 3-0. In the third place game, both San Benito and McAllen faced off with penalty kicks with the Bulldogs winning 5-4.
