(McAllen, Texas)-Kickoff is set for the Rio Grande Valley Coaches Association East vs West All-Star football game at Boggus Stadium on January 8th after a two-year COVID19 delay. “Hopefully, we will get to play this all-star game,” says RGVCA West head coach, Patrick Shelby (McAllen HS athletic coordinator). Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.

The East team will be coached by first-year head coach from Harlingen South High School, Israel Gonzalez, while Shelby will coach the West team. “We get six practices and so far, I’m excited with these players,” says Shelby.

The McAllen Bulldogs finished its season in second place in District 16-5A DI with an impressive 8-2 record while the South Hawks went undefeated 10-0 under Gonzalez. Both head coaches will lead their all star teams. “It’s exciting to coach these all stars for by he first time in my career,” added Shelby.

More than 120 players will be featured with all proceeds going to the RGVCA Scholarship Fund for athletes. “We want to thank the Harlingen CISD school district and athletic director, Robert Davies for their support,” said Shelby.
