(McAllen, Texas)-With :59 seconds left in the third period, the Georgetown Bulldogs took the lead on a three-pointer to make it 43-41 over the McAllen Bulldogs in the First Annual South Texas Bash Boys Basketball Tournament hosted by McAllen HS. This game was a remake of last season’s Class 5A Regional Championships with McAllen defeating Georgetown 48-37 to advance to the UIL State 5A Quarterfinals.
On Saturday, the McHi Bulldogs made a run after leading Georgetown 20-6 in first period, to tie the game again at 53-53 with 3:57 left to play and a three-pointer by Robert Canul put the Bulldogs up for good 56-53. McHi’s Darren Manriquez stole the ball and easily ended the game at the buzzer with a layup as McAllen won 63-55. “This has been a great tournament of round-robin play,” says McAllen Bulldog basketball head coach, Ryan Flores. “We played a very good Georgetown team today and games like this one only prepares us for District.” (HSSMImages/David A.
