(Donna, Texas)-At Bennie La Prade Stadium, the Donna North Chiefs (1-4, 0-3) held on to a slim 9-7 lead at the half but the Brownsville Hanna Eagles (2-4, 1-2) would step it up on defense in the second half with two pick sixes for scores to beat the Chiefs 35-15 in District 32-6A on Friday night. “I am proud of our team and how they fought to the end,” said Chiefs head football coach, Juan Cuevas. “We are just one step away from making things happen here at Donna North.” The night was highlighted by a 72-yard touchdown run by Donna North RB Louie Cavazos, only 5’4″, who was playing to honor his fallen sister. “His sister was killed by a drunk driver as she was walking to the store last year with a friend and now, before every game he visits his sisters grave,” said Cuevas. “We are so proud of this young man. We are proud to have him as a Chief.” His sister, Lyza was an athlete at Donna North High School. She was only 15-years old. This was the first district win of the season for the Hanna Eagles.
