(Edcouch, Texas)-Season Over! And what a finish it was for the Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets (5-5, 5-3) as they punched their way into the postseason with a 34-12 win over the Roma Gladiators (4-5, 3-4) on Friday at Benny Layton Sr. Memorial Stadium. “We overcame plenty of obstacles this season, but we are now headed to the state playoffs,” says Yellowjackets head coach, Christian Navarro.

The Yellowjackets were 1-5 after their first six games this season and many fans were counting the Yellowjackets out, but Navarro kept his head up and led his team on a four-game win streak, including a key 42-21 win over last year’s State 5A Division II Quarterfinalists, Sharyland Pioneer. “That win was huge for our program this season. We are young and we had some key injuries that kept some players out of the line up. But, we are now headed to the state playoffs,” adds Navarro.

With their win over Pioneer, the Yellowjackets will take the week off before heading to the State 5A Division II Bi-District Championships against District 15-6A DII Alamo Heights (9-0, 4-0) Mules. Site TBA. This marks the third straight season that Navarro leads the Yellowjackets to the University Interscholastic League 5A DII playoffs in only his third season as head football coach.

  1. I have been browsing online more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be a lot more useful than ever before.
