(McAllen, Texas)-Oh, how things can change from one day to the next. And it changed for the McAllen Nikki Rowe Warriors (6-3, 6-2) as they kept their playoff hopes alive with their win over Weslaco East 21-7 in District 16-5A DI at Bobby Lackey Stadium in Weslaco. The Warriors will play McAllen High School (8-1, 7-1) next week while Weslaco East will play McAllen Memorial (8-1, 8-0). The Wildcats playoff hopes are slim.
The Wildcats took their opening drive and scored to make it 7-0 in the first quarter on a flea-flicker touchdown pass to WR Alex Martinez. The Warriors answered right back with a touchdown by Jason Neal to tied the game at 7-7. In the second half, the Wildcats went scoreless as Rowe’s defense played havoc all night, stopping the Wildcats running attack. Head coach Robert Flores watched his team control the line of scrimmage as they would add touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters to seal their win over Weslaco East.
