(Weslaco, Texas)-Weslaco Panthers head football coach Roy Stroman enters his fourth season with plenty of challenges in 2021. With only one returning starter back on offense and just two on defense, Stroman will have to reach into his purple magic bag and put another great team together.

The Weslaco Panthers will be vying for it’s third  UIL State 6A Regional Championship appearance in four seasons under Stroman. “The expectations here at Weslaco are high,” says Stroman. “We set the bar high.”

Players to watch in 2021 will be new quarterback Justin Rodriguez (5’10 175lbs), WR Roy Stroman III (5’8 145lbs), WR Mekhi Jones, and WR Izaiah Dominguez.

The Panthers will kickoff its season against Weslaco East on August 27th followed by a road game against Mission (9/03), before ending their non-conference schedule at home against Laredo Nixon on September 10th.

HSSM picks the Panthers to finish fifth overall in District 32-6A and they could play the spoiler role against their opponents on Friday nights. Playoffs in 2021? Stay tuned.
