2021 Blue Grey All-American Bowl

HSSM Publisher Joins Blue-Grey All American Bowl Staff

A move that’s been in the works for months now, and just recently made official, David Amador has joined the staff for Blue-Grey Football. He will serve on the selection committee for the All-American Bowl and as the All-American Combine coordinator in the Southwest.

In terms of resumes, Amador has numerous lines that are worthy of, at the very least, a mention. With a major in English and minor in Kinesiology from University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley, he is the owner and publisher of High School Sports Magazine (established in 1994).

A member of the Texas High School Coaches Association, also a finalist for Sportswriter of the Year in 1999, Amador is also a media partner with Texas 7-on-7 State Football Championships and covers sports for the state’s University Interscholastic League (UIL).

Given a wealth of knowledge and resources, in the past two years alone, Amador has been greatly responsible for opening up doors for several individuals from the South Texas region. Not only to participate in the All-American Bowl, but to move on and play at the next level in college.

“We call him Touchdown Dave, like so many other people do, and we’re happy to have him on board,” said Blue-Grey Football CEO Gus Bell. “He does so much for his community, the state of Texas in general, the whole Southwest when you start to think about things. He is somebody you want to know if you hope to play college ball, I can tell you that. Playing in the All-American Bowl is the first step, too.”

Kyle Perales from Hidalgo (TX), Jacob Paez from Edinburg North (TX) and Dante Lopez from Mission (TX) are at Texas A&M Kingsville, with Ryan Whalen from Edcouch-Elsa (TX) at Howard Payne, Robert Amador III from McAllen (TX) at UT-Permian Basin, Louis DeVries from Lyford (TX) at Southwestern University and Pedro Posadas from Weslaco East (TX) at Cisco College. The list goes on and on.

A few of the bigger success stories include the likes of Carter Senterfitt from Corpus Christi Veterans (TX) at Texas Tech, Micah Lopez from Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North (TX) at Washington State, Blake Simpson from Liberty Hill (TX) at Texas State, Raymond Martinez from Hidalgo (TX) at Illinois State, Tyler Bailey from Edinburg Vela (TX) at SMU and A.J. Gonzaque from Mission Veterans (TX) at UTSA.

“The real excitement is seeing all of these seniors come together and watching the rewards of all their blood, sweat and tears.” Amador said. “These young men have endured with sacrifice to become future college or professional athletes and the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl is the seal of success for each one. I want to take time and thank Gus Bell for giving me an opportunity to be part of the team.” (www.bluegreyfootball.com)
